Roanoke Valley Resource Authority
is the governing body of non-hazardous, non-recyclable solid waste disposal. Trash is collected from city homes by
Solid Waste Management
on a weekly basis and transported to the
Tinker Creek Transfer Station
. Each evening, the
Waste Line Express
delivers the waste to Smith Mountain Gap Landfill by rail. Capacity until 2050 is in place.
