Valley Metro Bus

Valley Metro's Campbell Court Transportation Center is situated in the heart of the downtown Roanoke's business and shopping districts behind a series of beautifully restored 19th century building facades at 17-31 West Campbell Avenue, SW. Campbell Court is just a block away from Roanoke’s Historic City Market, where one can find a variety of restaurants, entertainment, art and educational venues including the historic Roanoke Market Building, Center in the Square, and Taubman Museum of Art. Nearby are the VA Museum of Transportation, the historic Hotel Roanoke, and O. Winston Link Museum all of which are only a short walk away.
Cash Fare Basic - $1.50
Discount - $.75 for Medicare card holders, persons age 65 or older and/or disabled persons, with proper discount fare eligibility identification( Valley Metro Photo ID). You may apply in person at our administrative office for our discount photo ID card. * See instructions below on how to obtain a Valley Metro discount photo ID.
Roanoke City Students age 18 and under will be charged $.75 each way, subject to the following conditions: Students 11 - 18 must show a valid Roanoke City School issued Photo ID, or Valley Metro Student Photo ID.
Children age ten and younger are free but must be accompanied by a paying adult passenger and limited to 4 children per paying adult.
Transfers - FREE - When more than one bus is required to complete your trip, you can transfer onto the second bus for free. Simply ask your operator for a transfer as you board the first bus and pay your fare! The time of that transfer pass expires 30 minutes after your bus reaches its final destination
Weekly and Monthly Passes offer the greatest savings for regular commuters! Basic and Discount Passes for fixed routes can be purchased at Valley Metro's Campbell Court Transfer Station. S.T.A.R. Passes can be purchased through the mail or at Valley Metro's Administrative Offices at 1108 Campbell Avenue, SE
1. Basic Monthly Unlimited Ride Pass - $48.00
Entitles pass holder to an unlimited number of rides on all routes during the issued (calendar) month.
2. Discount Monthly Unlimited Ride Pass - $24.00
Entitles S.S.I. Recipients, Medicare cardholders, people age 65 or older, and/or disabled persons, with proper discount fare eligibility ID, to an unlimited number of rides on all routes that month.
3. Basic Weekly Unlimited Ride Pass - $14.00
Entitles pass holder to an unlimited number of rides on all routes during the issued (calendar) week.
4. Discount Weekly Unlimited Ride Pass - $7.00
Entitles S.S.I. Recipients, Medicare cardholders, people age 65 or older, and/or disabled persons, with proper discount fare eligibility ID, to an unlimited number of rides on all routes the issued (calendar) week.
5. S.T.A.R. (Specialized Transit - Arranged Rides) Monthly Unlimited Ride pass - $96.00
Entitles persons certified for the STAR service to an unlimited number of rides on all regular bus routes, and to an unlimited number of S.T.A.R. trips during the issued (calendar) month.
Smart Way Commuter Bus
The Smart Way Bus is the regional public transportation service operated by Valley Metro. It links the Roanoke Valley and the New River Valley for a fare of only $4.00 - each way.
The Smart Way service begins at Valley Metro's Campbell Court Transfer Station with stops at the Hotel Roanoke, the Roanoke Regional Airport, two 'Park and Ride' lots along Interstate 81 at exits 140 and 118-A, the Christiansburg K-Mart (at the shelter going to Tech and across the street from the shelter going to Roanoke), the Virginia Tech Corporate Research Center, Main Street in downtown Blacksburg and the Squires Student Center on the Campus of Virginia Tech.
Amtrak SmartWay Connector Service

The Amtrak SmartWay Connector is a bus service that serves the New River Valley, Roanoke Valley, Bedford, and Lynchburg, with connections to Blacksburg Transit (during school year only), Smart Way Commuter, Roanoke Valley Metro, Greater Lynchburg Transit and Amtrak.
On Monday through Thursday, the service begins in downtown Roanoke at the Roanoke Civic Center (Lot C) and ends at the Kemper Amtrak Station in Lynchburg, VA. Free parking is available at the Roanoke Civic Center in Lot C between the parking cones only as others my be towed.
On the weekends, the service begins in Blacksburg, VA at the Virginia Tech's Squires Student Center and ends at the Kemper Amtrak Station in Lynchburg, VA.

2. Discount half fare - $2.00 one way (see below for *qualifications)
3. Children 5 and under ride free with a paying adult.
Exact fare only. Driver will not make change.
*Qualifications: For Medicare cardholders, person’s age 65 or older and /or disabled persons, with proper discount fare eligibility identification (our Valley Metro Photo ID). You may apply in person at our administration office for our discount photo ID card that will entitle you to pay our discount fares.
Amtrak SmartWay Connector tickets are available through Valley Metro’s Campbell Court Transfer Station at 17-31 West Campbell Avenue SW, Valley Metro’s Administrative Offices at 1108 Campbell Avenue, SE or through the mail (Valley Metro, PO Box 13247, Roanoke, VA 24032). Credit cards are not accepted.

Roanoke Regional Airport is a full service airport offering more than 50 scheduled flights daily, providing nonstop service from Roanoke, Virginia to nine major cities. Major airlines that fly out of Roanoke Regional Airport daily include US Airways, United Airlines and Delta. Allegiant Air also provides full sized jets and frequent non-stop service to several Florida cities.
