Have you ever heard, “If there was only a job… Keep me in mind if you hear of anything….I cannot find talented individuals…. There are just no jobs here… I would like to return to my hometown, but I cannot find a good paying job… I sure would like for my children and grandchildren to move back here…”? Does it sound familiar?
Many times these sentiments have been echoed without anyone really listening or capturing the contact information of the people making these claims, and certainly no one is following up with these people when employment opportunities arise.
To combat this problem, the City of Roanoke has created this database to provide a bridge between people wanting to stay and/or return to this region, but needing help and assistance to do so. The common perception from seekers is few jobs are available. Recruiters feel little talent is available to fill their job openings. The reality is plenty of jobs and talent exist, but traditional channels of communication and processes are not connecting in today’s age.
By submitting your name into this database, you will receive helpful employment information regarding opportunities in the Roanoke region when they arise. This information will be delivered by:
- An automatic email response with helpful links to get your search started
- An automatic email sent directly to employers interested in candidates of specific industry sectors
- Two newsletters each month highlighting new jobs and helpful links
- An employer searchable database of current job seekers
This process has made over 100 placements in the last two years.
No matter if you are a two or four-year college student living in the region, regional college alumni living outside the region, a native son or daughter living away from their home, a current young adult living in the region, or any-aged person wanting to work
