Responsibility

The Office of Real Estate Valuation (real estate assessor's office) is the City department responsible for appraising all real property at 100% of market value each year. The appraisals are used to calculate the annual real estate tax bill for each property owner in the City. The assessor's office analyzes parcel sales, land subdivisions, zoning changes and updates and maintains building and property characteristics. The office also manages the tax abatement programs and evaluates trends that affect market value of real property; such as: sales prices, construction costs, rent, income/expense statements, etc.
