The Roanoke Civic Center celebrated its Silver Anniversary in 1996 and has played host to many of the country's leading performing acts and entertainment events since its doors opened in 1971. Over 12 million people have attended events at the Roanoke Civic Center in its first thirty years.
With three facilities, the Roanoke Civic Center has the flexibility to host national touring events and major professional sports franchises, as well as hometown entertainment. Below you will find technical information on these facilities. Coliseum
BACKSTAGE DINING:
Multi-purpose area located backstage can be used for dining for road shows. Available food service for up to 110 people.
DRESSING ROOMS: Four (4) dressing rooms and one (1) officials room, each equipped with bath and shower facilities are located in immediate backstage area. Additional meeting rooms available with advanced request.
ELECTRICAL:
Eighteen hundred (1,800) amps power located in three backstage areas.
- Three (3) 400 amp, 208 vac. 3 phase / 60 hertz, west / stage end
One (1) 200 amp, 3 phase / 60 cycle, west / stage end
One (1) 200 amp, 3 phase/ 60 cycle, southeast corner

1,800 amps total.
HVAC:
Forced air steam heating. Eight hundred (800) tons of air-conditioning - chilled water in air handlers.
LOADING AREA: Loading area located at the west end of the building. Two doors at the loading area measure 22'h x 15'w and offer access to the arena floor.
PRODUCTION OFFICE:
One (1) office located in immediate backstage area equipped with three (3) telephone lines and one (1) cable TV outlet.
RIGGING:
Strong steel beams are located 60' from floor with access above steel for riggers. All rigging plans, including desired hanging points, must be submitted to the Roanoke Civic Center event services department prior to tickets going on sale.
SEATING CAPACITY: 11,000 In The Round; 10,622 Proscenium Stage; 8,642 Hockey; 5,626 Basketball.

SOUND:
Public address system located in the high steel supported with nine (9) sound delay speakers.
SPOTLIGHTS:
Six (6) Carbon Arc Super Troupers, two (2) Xenon Super Troupers 2k, and two (2) strong Xenon Gladiator 3k are located on north, south, and east light bridges.
SPORTING EQUIPMENT:
Hockey - dashers, glass, net, and Olympia ice resurfacing machine.
Basketball - New Horner portable basketball floor. Two (2) BPI backstops with Porter backboards and goals.
STAGING: One 60' x 40' Wenger stage, with 4' - 6' variable height and two (2) 12' x 24' sound wings. 4' H StageRight free-standing mesh barricades. Wenger portable riser platforms: (12) pcs. - 4' x 8' x 8"; (12) pcs. 4' x 8' x 16"; (12) pcs. 4' x 8' x 24".
TABLES AND CHAIRS:
Adequate inventory of tables and chairs to host most types of trade shows, concerts, and banquets.
TICKET OFFICE:
Full-service ticket office providing computerized ticketing (tickets.com) and telephone order service for all events. Daily ticket office with six (6) windows located at the east entrance. Daily WILL CALL ticket pick-up windows available for patron services.

Closed on Saturday except on days of events.

FOH Transfer circuits indicate how many house circuits are readily picked up backstage for convenient dimmer rack patch. *Twist-lock 3-pin ground (can convert to stage pin) old style, pin out twist. Three 400 amp circuits available on stage for Road Board use. 110 and 220 voltage available for boards.
- FOLLOWSPOTS:
Two (2) Strong Xenon super Trooper 6k Follow Spots located in the rear balcony, not removable.
DIMMERS:
The house has own dimmers and an ETC Insight lighting console with 108 channels. Board has 52-6kw, 8-12kw, 5-6kw and 5-12kw non-dim capacity. Circuits per dimmer varies according to wattage. Permanent FOH lighting controlled from lobby. House lights controlled from stage right and do not transfer to control stage lights.

ORCHESTRA PIT:
One section, adjustable by hydraulic lift. Center line piano lift. Apron overhangs US wall of pit 4'4" (distance from upstage wall of the orchestra pit to the downstage edge of the apron).
PERMANENT INSTALLATIONS:
(Over stage) One 10' movie screen, one traveler, located mid-stage Line 27, two electric pipes on Lines 5 and 43, one cyclorama and one fire curtain. All can be moved with advance notice except for electric pipe. (On deck) One 66' loading bridge, located stage right grid, and one adjustable proscenium.
PIANOS:
One Steinway Concert Grand - good condition. One Steinway Baby Grand - good condition. One Yamaha Upright - good condition. Professional tuner available with advance notice.
RIGGING SYSTEM:
Single purchase counter-weight system, hand operated. Up to 10,000 lbs. available. Forty-four (44) line sets. Arbors - 1,000 lb. capacity for counter-weight system. Chain hoists available via rental.
SEATING CAPACITY: The theatre seats 2,440: orchestra - 1,625, loge - 295, balcony - 520. There are 80 seats in the pit area, included in the orchestra seating count. The auditorium can accommodate up to 12 wheelchairs for handicapped seats.
SOUND: House is equipped with a Soundcraft 200 Delta 24 x 4 x 2 mixing console located in the rear of the Theatre. Soundboard has 12 inputs and 1 auxiliary output. There are four (4) 15" Altec 70v speakers. Lines are run to light booth, fly floor, sound booth, follow spots, stage right, stage left, house and projection room. We also have an Otari MX5050 reel-to-reel, 7-1/2 ips and 15 ips. There is a Clear-com 3-pin intercom system. Cable can be run 215 feet from stage to road console in rear auditorium seating area. XLR connectors only.
WARDROBE: Located at rear stage walk-around. One washer and dryer available upon request.
WING SPACE:
Storage for set pieces measured from proscenium opening to first obstruction. STAGE LEFT WING - 20' x 25', patch board downstage. STAGE RIGHT WING - 25' x 55', fly ropes.
